Mottainai is a Japanese term which is used to refer to a sense of regret over waste. It can translate as «What a waste!». Environmentalists have used the term to encourage people to «reduce, reuse and recycle».
Following this thought I decided to repair my own watch band since it was recently broken by accident. This prevented the disposal of my current band and the packaging bag of the new band.
I feel good with my self after doing this since I am thinking now of the harm avoided to the planet.

I'd not come across the word "Mottainai", thank you - it is a powerful idea. Great to hear about your repairs! Respond

Hi Mario, I love that word, I hadn't heard it before. I will add it to my and my children's vocabulary. It really points to how different cultures value different things and as a result the practical outputs we see are different. How is it going with your challenge? Did you have any insights around how your challenge is impacted by or impacts systems? Yesterday, our coaching post was on courage. Does it take courage to live waste free in today's world and to have conversations about it? What do you think about courage? Could it be a useful quality in creating an equitable and sustainable future? Look forward to reading your updates, if you have the chance. Only ca. 1 week to go! Warm wishes, Leonie Respond

Hi Leonie! The challenge is becoming an habit now, so I think is going well (I will post about that in a minute). I think it would be great to add labels to trash cans to squeeze milk containers or similar containers before putting them into the trash. I will email sustainability about this I think. It takes courage for doing that and challenging our system indeed. Thank you, Mario Respond
