It is of great importance for government to design effective incentive mechanisms in environmental governance.
China has established Supervision Centres for Environmental Protection (SCEPs), which scientifically incentivized firms to reduce pollution. SCEPs also help coordinate adjacent provinces’ incentives on reducing firms’ emissions around provincial boundaries. Besides, when fiscal decentralization carries the risk of aggravating environmental pollution, vertical management structures in environmental governance could effectively strengthen incentives and coordination(Gao Chen et al, 2022).

Hi Yifan, Leonie from cCHANGE here. Congratulations on a great first week. It's so impressive what you have read and learnt, and more than that, that you have actually made concrete changes in your own life. I really acknowledge your committment to educating yourself and to making a difference. The video you shared on Climate Justice was great and I actually sent the article on indigenous knowledge to my colleagues as I know some of them are very interested in this topic. Has it been hard to integrate this new reading habit into your life? Do you sometimes forget about your challenge? I just read quite a good article about Climate Justice on Carbon Brief. The Guardian also recently had a campaign about it. An issue like this shows the interdependence of issues like climate change, human rights, poverty alleviation, etc. In the past we have tended to treat these problems in silos, but climate justice is about integrating them, I think. Also thank you for sharing how much nature inspires you. It was lovely to read what you deeply care about. Looking forward to more. Best, Leonie Respond

I'm glad that the article I shared was helpful to your colleague. I will check out the article about Climate Justice on Carbon Brief you mentioned, and couldn't agree more with you that climate justice is the integration of various separate issues. Besides, it is true that sticking to this habit can be challenging and it can be hard to find time to focus on reading because of other daily routes. But we gonna get it! Respond
