Went plogging again this afternoon around the same spot as part of an investigation to see if the previous plog clean-up had an effect. We did notice it was a bit cleaner this time round and so we ended up collecting less than last time. We also had a shorter plog run this time. Most of our loot consisted of cigarette butts and paper products. Overall, a good day!

cCHANGE Team commented on Day 4: Plogging Round 2 3 years agoHi Mary, Leonie from cCHANGE here. Wow, that is a pretty full bag of rubbish! How has it been going in week 2? Are you managing to get out into nature regularly? Have you done more plogging? What a great challenge! There are quite a few fellow challengers who have chosen to spend time connecting with nature each day or pick up rubbish. Lucy is also doing plogging and she also posted a photo of a big bag full of rubbish. The streets in your area will look amazing after this month is over. Have you been able to integrate this new habit into your life? Nice that you are doing it with Alastair, does it make it easier to have that support? Are you noticing any benefits from spending that time in nature? I am curious, have you told other friends and family about your challenge? If so, what do they think? Do people look at you when you are plogging? Is that OK for you? I am curious to hear a little about how the people around you are responding to this habit change you have chosen. Thanks for the posts so far, it's great following your journey. Best wishes, Leonie Respond

cCHANGE Team commented on Day 4: Plogging Round 2 3 years agoHi Mary, Leonie here. Day 30! Congratulations! How has your challenge been going lately? Have you managed to get out into nature and reduce food waste. It would be wonderful if you could give us a little update now at the end of the 30 days. What did you learn about yourself? About making change? It doesn't have to be long, and it doesn't have to be perfect, if things haven't quite gone to plan. Thanks so much for joining the challenge, experimenting, and reflecting on what it takes to make sustainable and equitable change. It was inspiring to see your plogging posts! Hope to see you at the wrap up on Friday. Warm wishes, Leonie Respond

Mary Mekhail commented on Day 4: Plogging Round 2 3 years agoHi Leonie, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Haven't had a chance to post lately because of assignment deadlines. Spending time in nature is becoming an everyday habit, which has significantly impacted my mood. Plogging has been a bit erratic, but I find that doing this challenge with Alistair has helped my accountability and made the experience more impactful. Alistair has been a great support and an encouragement and our plogging sessions have given us a chance to get to know each other more and talk about our passions. Word has gotten around to our circle of friends and they have asked us how it is going so far, which is great because word is getting out about the challenge. I have significantly reduced my food waste this month by meal planning to make sure food doesn't go bad and it has also been fiscally beneficial. My takeaway this month is that every little bit helps, and it's okay to not be able to do everything, but to do the best we can. I aim to continue my daily hour walk and reducing my food waste to zero (hopefully!), and would definitely be up for the occasional plogging round beyond March. Respond
