I had my food waste in the freezer to prevent it from rotting.
Then an idea came up in my mind that maybe defrosting the waste would help to shrink the whole thing, so I decided to do it… and it worked!
The jar full of food waste became half of the amount.
This may not be reducing the food waste it self, but I think it is worth doing since I can reduce the plastic bag use for taking out the trash.
I also find this quite easy and handy, because by freezing the food waste I do not have to worry about the smell. (Which was sometimes annoying when I was keeping it in the bin)
I might be able to continue the freezing and defrosting routine even after the cChallenge period is over.

Hi Emilie! Leonie here. I just wanted to write and say how much I am enjoying reading your posts and seeing how you are experimenting with reducing your waste. Fanastic. You have been really inventive. It's was a great idea to freeze the food waste to shrink it down. I saw you were thinking about worm farms and Keri gave a link to information about a bokashi set. I have heard about this and have been thinking abouut getting one of these sets too. Has this new practice been difficult to integrate into each day or has it been pretty natural? Do you sometimes forget? I look forward to seeing more pictures and hearing more! Best, Leonie Respond

Hi Emilie, Leonie here, how has your challenge been going? Are you going to get your waste within the two jars this month? We only have two more days to go! I loved reading your early reflections. It would be wonderful if you could give us a little update now as we are nearing the end of the 30 days. It doesn't have to be long and it doesn't have to be perfect, if it hasn't gone to plan. Reflecting without judgement on why things don't work is powerful learning. Maybe you could share some reflections on some of the themes we talked about over the last weeks - culture, systems, personal qualities we need to make lasting change, values, beliefs, creating ripples around us. Or you could just share whatever you want. :) I really want to acknowledge your commitment, creativity, and love for the planet which came through strongly in your writing. It was exciting to read about your ideas and experiments. Hope to see you at the wrap up on Friday. Warm wishes, Leonie Respond
